COLDEX Ice Cores

Ice cores have been drilled at the Allan Hills, Antarctica during four consecutive field seasons starting in 2022. NSF COLDEX additionally also handles requests for Allan Hills ice from earlier field seasons. Currently, 27 ice cores have been drilled at various depths, collecting ice up to 6 million years old.

Available COLDEX ice core samples are curated by the National Ice Core Facility, in Denver Colorado. For information on how to request samples, please see our Sample Request page.
